This policy covers how PublishShark ("we," "us") handles information across our products, including the Shark Score rankings ("Rankings"). If you have questions, contact info@publishshark.com.
Business record data
Rankings pages display information about licensed businesses derived from public sources: state licensing board records, Google Business Profile data, and public company websites. This data is compiled and scored under our published methodology — it is not submitted by the businesses themselves unless they claim their page.
Information you provide to us
If you submit a claim or a data dispute through a Rankings page, we collect the email address and any message you provide, along with which business record the submission relates to. We use this only to verify business ownership, respond to disputes, and administer claimed profiles.
How we use information
We use claim and dispute submissions to verify ownership, correct business records, and communicate with the person who submitted them. We do not sell contact information collected through these forms to third parties.
Correcting or disputing public record data
Because business records are drawn from public sources, factual errors can occur. Any business (claimed or not) can dispute a record via the "Report incorrect data" link on its Rankings page. We review disputes and aim to respond within 48 hours.
Data retention
Claim and dispute submissions are retained for as long as needed to administer the business record they relate to, or until the business requests deletion of its contact information (not the underlying public license/rating data).
Cookies and analytics
We may use standard, privacy-conscious analytics to understand aggregate site usage. We do not use this data to build individual profiles of visitors.
